Ict op School

Ict op school is an organisation for the protection of the consumer interests of schools concerning ict.

Ict op school has the task to:
  • equip and accompany schools in their choices of ict-products and services;
  • collect the questions of schools concerning the renewal of learning with ict, with the specific goals of working together and exchanging and developing knowledge;
  • research, analyse and monitor educational developments concerning ict;
  • protect the joint consumer interests concerning ict and education.

Ict op school

Ict op school was founded in 2001 by the national organisations for boards of schools and management, united in ‘Vereniging van Samenwerkende Werkgevers Organisaties’, supported by the organisations for school leaders, AVS and Schoolmanagers_VO. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science funded the initiative. In 2006 Ict op School combined forces with Kennisnet to form the Kennisnet Ict op school Foundation, which is the organisation supporting the use of ict in education.

Since 2006 Ict op school is part of stichting Kennisnet Ict op school.

Purpose
Ict op school aims to improve ict-products and services to facilitate the integration of ict in primary and secondary education, by coordinating processes and protecting consumer interests.

Coordinating processes: connecting organisations to stimulate collaboration and the exchange of knowledge
Protecting consumer interests: supporting schools on choosing ict-products and services in education, by giving information and advice or combining forces

Main tasks
  • The distribution of information and knowledge about products and services on the usage of ict in education. For example the arrangement and management of ict-supplies in schools;
  • Making requests for products and services on the usage of ict in education more concrete and combining questions;
  • Creating and supporting regional coalitions between schools, supporting organisations, local governments and companies;
  • (Supporting the) development of knowledge on integration of ict in education.

Focus

Ict op school focuses its services on primary and secondary education in the Netherlands and only starts its activities when there is a concrete need for it. Ict op school tends to be transparent in all her activities, the progress and the results. Schools have the possibility to react on activities and participate in the improvement of the activities.

Ict op school works together with schools, local governments, nationwide pedagogical centres, Schools for teacher education, higher education, universities and companies.

Because Ict op school has a task to protect the consumer interests of schools, it always remains independent of commercial organisations or organisations with products/ services for schools. This ensures that Ict op school can give an objective opinion on these products/services.

Collaboration

When a project is started, Ict op school collaborates with schools and supporting organisations. The support of schools takes place by means of existing lines of communication. Ict op school creates and supports networks for the exchange of knowledge on subjects that are important for the integration of ict in education.
