Dutch ICT Tools

The aim of Ict op School is to support the effective and efficient use of ICT in primary and secondary education. Part of this support is the development of a group of ICT-tools, which help schools with a balanced implementation of ICT.

Ict op School translated two tools, published a book about its ICT-tools and gave these to all participants of the
international iEarn conference 2006.

Four in Balance teamtest

Using ICT in education involves mixing basic ingredients in the right proportions. These ingredients or components are: educational philosophy, knowledge and skills, educational software (including content) and ICT infrastructure.

This tool helps schools to measure the current use of each component with your team. The result offers the schools the opportunity to see which component(s) needs extra attention to create a balanced use of ICT. It’s possible to compare your results with that of Dutch Schools.

iEARN 2006: Workshop Dutch ICT-tools

Ict op School will give a workshop at the iEarn conference on Tuesday, July 4th from 1610 – 1700 in Room 6.
This workshop will give an overview of the Dutch system of introducing ICT at schools and the use of the Dutch ICT-tools.

History
The last five years the Dutch government has invested intensively in introducing ICT at schools in the Netherlands. One of the initiatives was the foundation of Ict op School, a countrywide organisation with the purpose of helping schools introducing ICT in their classrooms.

Ict op School started with the introduction of Four in Balance. This theory helps schools defining their meaning and activities about vision and ICT, professional development, infrastructure and content development. The theory is supported by a tool to generate a view of the usage of ICT. Afterwards tools have been developed for every element of four in balance.
